Through our Outreach, we hope to bring meaningful arts and theatre experiences to our community...
We are so excited to be working with Kimberly Mohns Roberts this season! She is a local author, artist, advocate and mama focused on building children’s self-esteem and self-worth. Read more about her inspiring work on her website or follow her Facebook page.
Using her book Just Perfect as inspiration, we will lead a small group of Charlotte-area teens in creating a new PlayPlay! Encounter. Throughout this experience, we will explore self-image and value while building props and costumes for the Encounter. Through PLAY, we will discover how to communicate the ideas in the book and create a script. After rehearsals and refinements, we look forward to sharing the message of the book through Just Perfect Encounter with our PlayPlay! families in the late Spring.
We hope this project grows into a yearly arts & theatre program for teens that looks at self-esteem issues while creating new Theatre for the Very Young pieces.
Starting September 10th and then running the first Monday of each month, PlayPlay! will be at the Spangler Library in Imaginon. Join PlayPlay! for an interactive storytime! Using the senses, children and caregivers journey together to places both new and familiar. Imagination and wonder lead us to discover “What’s that?” Babies experience brain stimulation through language and socialization. Engage your little one with new sights and sounds through stories, songs, and play. As one of the best places in Charlotte for families with little ones, we love appearing at ImaginOn and are excited to be a part of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library's programming.
